c. 65 pages with handwritten notes on proceedings, dating from 1854 to 1922. Meetings of the "legal voters of School district No. 4 in the towns of Mansfield and Otto' (later referred to as East Otto in the notes, as it became thus) were held at the schoolhouse in the district. Various committee people elected and issues voted upon, with the financial reportage - for the purchase of a stove, repairs to the library; Phineas Gregory named as the chairman of the first session; a large need was for winter fuel, the appropriations made and suppliers arranged for wood for 'scholars' needs; elections of trustees and named terms for librarian and district clerk. In 1862, Ellicottville is also mentioned as part of the district; in 1863, monies and lands were set aside for a new schoolhouse. The entries continue until 1922 and are accomplished in many different hands using ink for the most part, pencil in the latter years and with good legibility in the main. Approx. 6 1/4" x 7 1/2" size; bound in polished paper covered boards, leather spine; edge, tips wear and rubbing to the covers, spine covering about gone, top board detached; in good condition.
