F 184 pages, printed one side only, by using the author's original typed version, in reduced page size for copying, which includes 2 small hand-drawn illustrations on every page. The story regards "An eccentric artist and adopted grandson set off from Tangiers on a journey that takes them to some of the worlds more unusual locations. This includes sailing the Mediterranean, crossing the Empty Quarter of Arabia exploring the Solomon Islands and ending in Tibet." (Quoted from the author's website) (with) a handwritten note signed by David Aikman, Anthony's brother, writing from England to "Mr. Wagner" in 1984 regarding the American possibilities for publishing this and others of his brothers works; at the front endpaper of the book is tipped-on a sheet with David Aikman's return address. (and) A previous owner had managed to track Anthony Aikman down via the internet and asked about the book; the author replies with biographical details including those disguised in the "Phoenix" tale as well as some of his problems in attempting to get the book published, travels and his final days living in Thailand. A fictionalized memoir by Anthony Robert Aikman (1942 - 2011) British writer and film director. The volume approx. 6 1/2" x 8 1/2" size; bound in sturdy black polished buckram cloth; gilt cover titles; some edge, tips wear to the boards, spotting. Book, letter & e-note in very good condition.
