The Naval Chronicle appendix includes the Naval Register, printed in vertical double column with three sections, giving Names and rank, Dates of Commissions and Where Stationed, divided further for various ranks of U.S. Naval service: captains, masters commandant, lieutenants, surgeons, surgeons' mates, pursers, chaplains, midshipmen; also sailing masters, boatswains, gunners, carpenters, sail makers. The naval section is followed by a smilar group for the Marine Corps, with name and rank, dates of commissions, where stationed in a similar three-column format: Lt. Col. commandant Franklin Wharton; Majors Daniel Carmick and John Hall, followed by captains, 1st lieutenants, 2nd lieutenants. With a List of the American Navy, for November, 1815 in columns for No. of guns, names of vessels, commanders, station; this list ordered by the number of guns per ship. with a portrait frontispiece of Lewis Warrington of the U.S. Navy; an illustrated engraved title page and printed title page; also portraits of Gen. Jon. A. Williams; David Ramsay M.D.; Edward G. Malbone; James Biddle of the U.s. Navy; Charles Stewart, U.S.N.; and an illustration of the Naval Monument erected at the Navy Yard Washinton. Volume includes a useful index to contents bound at front. Binding with edge, tips wear, rubbing, spine leather flaking and chipped at edges, bottom of spine end chipped away.
