1939 -1940 Photograph Album Education and Ordination of Catholic Priests Including St. Rose Priory Kentucky
(Americana - 20th Century - Photography - Catholicism - Religious Orders)

Kentucky: No Publisher Noted, 1939. F Containing approximately 130 black and white photographic images of varying sizes; most about 3 1/2" x 4 1/2" size; a few smaller and a few larger. Mostly, these are candid photographs of the life of young aspirants to the Catholic priesthood; the first section, identified only as Providence June 1939 and as a school commencement preparation, graduation ceremonies & faculty and family interactions for 8 male graduates of an institution of higher learning, perhaps a pre-seminary training. The rest of the album is identified as 'Life Begins Anew' August 1939 St. Rose's Priory (Kentucky) with photos of the gradual process of ordination in 1940 for a group of young men following the religious path of the Benedictine order. The photographs are mostly corner-mounted, some glued, into a 10 1/4" x 13 1/4" hardcover album, with black paper pages, side-string tied; decoratively blind- stamped brown oblong format covers. Some of the images have become unmoored from their mounting pages and are loosely laid-in. With some edge, tips wear and rubbing to the album covers; images generally clear, detailed and in very good condition. Very Good Hardcover (Item ID: 25608)
