1862 Booklet with Receipt of a Ross Rahway Carriage Valued at 35 Dollars By L. Schaffert, Grocery Market 6th Avenue New York By Mrs. Thomson and List of Groceries Purchased Against the Sale Price
(Americana - 19th Century - Manuscript - New York City - Business History - Carriage Builders Trade - Ross Rahway New Jersey - Grocery)

New York City, NY: Not Published, 1862. F A little booklet, the cover with handwritten in pencil, "Miss Thomson Acct with Mr. Schaffert Market 6th Avenue." First page dates the acceptance of the 'Ros Raway' (Ross Rahway) carriage valued at $ 35 and signed by S. Schaffert Sept. 30, 1862. Within are (3) pages of marketing with prices from the September 30 date until December 23rd, exhausting the account's funds and going slightly over, thus completing the series of transactions; it appears that the carriage was traded to the grocer against future grocery needs of Miss Thomson. Booklet with plain lined paper, approx. 3 1/2" x 6" size. Ink & pencil handwriting, very legible. Some light wear, dustiness to the covers; in very good condition and interesting early 19th century New York City barter trade business history ephemera during the Civil War. Very Good Paperback (Item ID: 25386)
