All of the plates are colored or tinted lithographs by Lemercier et Cie & Hangard-Mauge, Paris. The catalog of this magnificent private collection of ancient glasswares of Jules Charvet, also with black and white illustrations within the text. Includes bibliographical references and indexes; letterpress text in French, Imp. Alcan-Levy Paris. The entire book's pages each on its' own guard, very heavy paper stock used for the production. A weighty and large volume, about 17 pounds with the shipping. Approx. 15 3/4" x 21 1/2" size; original marbled-paper covered boards, detached; no spine covering. Top board with small sticker at top corner of Geo. A. Leavitt & Co. Auctioneers, New York; title page with Lehigh University oval stamp at top margin and a few pencil numbers; also with the small oval bookseller's ticket of Collection E. Boban, Antiquaire a Paris at the top right corner. Much wear to the boards, the first few leaves & frontis plate detached, have come loose of their guards at the gutter. A couple of plates at the back also loose, with edge-chips at bottom borders 3/4" x 5"; occasional spotting and foxing, more so in the text section; many of the plates completely clean or with only marginal spotting. Inked numbers on frontis plate at top edge; front inner cover with bookplate from Lehigh University with 'cancelled' date of 1972 and remains of old pocket at back board; no additional library markings.
