Twenty Thousand dollars and charge our account: Bank of Commerce New York Amos D. Smith" Amos D. Smith (1800 - 1871) founder of the Bank of Commerce in Providence, RI, brigadier general in that state's guard unit, cotton mill owner and member of several municipal boards. Approx. 3 1/2" x 7 3/4" size; written on pale-blue note paper, with shield & stars watermark; old fold lines, edge-wear; little splitting of paper.
