Westbury, Long Island New York: Not Published, 1864. F. Promissory note, William Layton, written here as 'Laton' (1800 - 1872) borrowing 1000 dollars at six percent from his wife Maria (Duryea) Layton (1804 - 1879). Signed by him and with 5 cent Internal Revenue stamp affixed; reverse with notes on receiving interest amounts paid and finishing with the principal paid; William Layton died in 1872 and the last interest payment is made by Oliver Titus. Approx. 4 3/4" x 7 3/4" size; old fold lines, a little wear. In very good condition and interesting 19th century Westbury Long Island history ephemera. Item #25127
