Circa 1895 Photograph of the Royal Mail Ship Ophir of the Orient Steam Navigation Company of London

Photograph of this steamship at anchor; identified on the bow as the Ophir and also below the image, on the window-matte surround, written in a decorative calligraphic hand in ink as 'RMS Ophir.' The image approx. 5 1/2" x 10 1/4" (sight); the surrounding matte make it 13 1/2" x 18 ¾." A little fade to the image; no photographer or studio noted, not dated, circa 1895. The photo with clear details; the surrounding cardstock matte darkened, old framing line at outer edge; in good condition. A handsome ship, once used as the Royal cruiser for the future George V, while on his world tour of the British Empire in 1901. Item #24907
