New York, NY: American Friends of Hebrew University, 1940. F A small folding 6-sided flyer, approx. 3 1/2" x 5 3/4" size. Cover with a black and white illustration of "Professor Ernst Wertheimer, one of fifty-two noted refugee Jewish scientists and scholars now on the faculty of the Hebrew University in Jerusalem" The appeal for support includes statements from Chaim Weizmann, Felix Frankfurter, Felix M. Warburg and Albert Einstein, who writes, "If Hebrew University would be provided with better means, we could avoid the sad result of having many of our gifted refugees in remote corners - their gifts becoming fruitless and of no value. Our youth ever hungry for education would know that they have a place where they could study without being treated as unasked guests - or worse. Our own sense of self-respect and dignity - if has not been warped through external influences - must impel us to vigorous support of our University." Printed under the auspices of the American Friends of Hebrew University in NY; the president of the Friends was A.S.W. Rosenbach.
