Garden City Long Island New Yo: Various, 1957. F Photos: a couple of dozen snapshots, mostly black & white; young girl & horse, beach scenes, family. Mostly 3 " x 3 " size. Miscellaneous: A few postcards, highway scene in Georgia, Orient Point Inn Orient Pt. Long Island, a UN interior of the public lobby. Six Flower Show prize stubs, sponsored by New York Herald Tribune. Two ribbons from the 1956 + 1957 Cathedral Children's Fair. A Stewart School typed certification promoting a child to 6th grade. Also two hand written card-invitations to a Picnic at Belmont State Park and a "Odd Clothes Night" given by the Junior Y.P.F. of the C.S.S.M. and an invitation to the Lawrence School in Hewlett, Long Island Christmas Dance held at the Rockaway Hunting Club and a holiday card from a friend in France. Pamphlets & printed materials: 1959 Garden City Teachers Association First Faculty Frolics Staged & Directed by Robert Holley (24) pages, a few black and white illustrations of some participants, committee member & contributor/supporter lists, local advertisers. Twenty-Second Annual Father-Daughter April 16th, 1959 held in the Georgian Room Garden City Hotel on the occasion of the 82nd Anniversary of The Cathedral School of St. Mary; with autographs of some of the attending fathers & daughters with only the front and back cover, the rest pasted-down to old scrapbook page. Garden City Junior H.S. Band & Orch. Spring Concert program. The Village Studio of Music student music program, held at the Garden City Hotel, Annual Spring Recital of students of Francis Reeve, Jr. June 2, 1957 and another recital of flute & piano students. Garden City Library Items: An illustrated 1954 The Book Worm for recording how many books read during the summer, the reader would inter-act by placing a segment of the 'bookworm' on the picture for each book read, and a diploma for having read 15 books of Literary Merit in Summer of 1956; also a "Tom Sawyer" book report list, author, title, 'book about,' for 15 books. The C.S.S.M. presents "A Child is Born" by Stephen Vincent Benet, program. 1959 Garden City H.S. & PTA Scholarship Show "The Boy Friend" program with cast, dancers & events. The '59ers present Centennial - C.S.S.M. 1877 - 1977 by Ruthe Visone and Juli Kasius, small program, November 4th, 1958. Various sizes and printed on varying paper stock. Some wear and soiling & backs of photos & pamphlet panels with some old dry scrapbook mounting-paste residue; in good condition; interesting Garden City Long Island NY educational history from the mid-20th century.
