F Hand-drawn map, of mining interest; with 4 distinct parts: at the left margin is a General section for Lawrence and Johnston Counties, illustrating a detailed analysis of the geology of the area; at the top is an Analysis of Coals from the Peach Orchard, Big Vein and Head of Nat's Creek mines, according to the Kentucky Geological Survey; below is a list giving distance from the mines to Ashland, Cincinnati, Chicago, Columbus, Toledo, with a map showing the tri-state Kentucky, Ohio, West Virginia portion of this area; and a larger map at a scale of 4000 ft. per inch showing the Big Sandy River & Levisa Fork, bordered by the C. & O.R.R. railway line and the mines named, including the large Lafayette Bank, also the smaller creeks and forks found in the area. Very sharply and clearly hand-drawn in black ink; approx. 16 1/2" x 17" size; on architectural vellum; light wear; old rolling creases & fold lines; in very good condition.
