F Six color plates, collated complete according to the title list; loosely laid- in the original portfolio case; the images include: Villa Medici Rome; Villa D'Este Tivoli; Villa Campi near Florence; Boboli Gardens Florence; Villa Cicogna Bisuschio; In the Gardens of Isola Bella Lake Maggiore; with the titles at the lower margin as well as the publisher name & copyright dates, given as being 1903 or 1904; very good examples of paintings with Italian architecture and garden themes by American artist Maxfield Parrish (1870 - 1966) "…one of the most successful and popular artists during an important period in American illustration… he aimed to be something more than a commercial illustrator, especially after his work began to be sold as art prints in 1915...his place is secure in what is now known as the "Golden Age of Illustration." (Bethany Neubauer in the ANB); printed one side only on coated paper stock; with the title list on the inner cover flap; the portfolio approx.12 3/4" x 9 1/2" size; light olive paper covered boards, dark brown cloth spine, paper title label on the front cover; remains of the silk closure ribbon; some edge, tips wear and bumping to the portfolio case; plates with some edge-wear, couple of short ¼" closed edge-tears, couple of tip-bumps & edge-creases; imagery colorful and bright; in very good condition.
