The news accounts describe a 1500 ft. red carpet rolled out for the models, visible here in many of the images, along with decorative plant stands along the way; with images of marching bands, acrobatic troupe performing on the street, store-fronts, folks observing the activities, street scenes, politicos, what appears to be a young blind man operating an musical hurdy-gurdy organ grinder; taken from a few perspectives, in front of the Newberry store, near the Main News Stand and other businesses downtown. A handwritten identifier states "PoK Fashion Parade may 1961"; in the original Argus Slide Changer Magazine made by Argus Cameras Ann Arbor Michigan U.S.A. Division of Sylvania Electric Products, Inc., with the cardstock box & metal slide tray, each slide with its own metal holder; light wear to the box; in very good condition. The headlines from the Poughkeepsie Journal of Friday, May 19, 1961 p. 10 declared: "...TOMORROW IS THE DAY WE RENAME Main St. "FASHION ST."
