F One of the hundred Alexandra Japan Edition bound in half dark brown morocco and contrasting brown cloth, approx. 12 1/2" x 19" oblong format; issued with the extra portfolio of 50 plates and an original California newspaper and a California document of the period; the newspaper being the California Daily Chronicle, San Francisco Thursday Morning, October 9, 1856 Vol. VI No. 124, four sides, with much on the city of San Francisco, opinions, reportage on the Fremont run for the U.S. presidency, California's support and other news of the time, old fold lines, few underlinings in red pencil; in very good condition; the original document included is a Writ of Attachment dated 9th of December 1857, John D. Arthur vs. Thomas Dorland, in district court, 12th judicial, addressing the Siskiyou Co. sheriff in the matter; signed by Judge Edward Norton, William Duer Clerk, William R. Satterlee Dep. Clerk; on the reverse is handwritten note signed from Samuel P. Fair, sheriff in Siskiyou & Thomas Green Deputy regarding serving the writ upon the defendants, the possessions of a house & property in the town of Deadwood; approx. 8" x 12 1/2" size, official blind-stamp at lower margin; old fold lines, in very good condition; volume with errata slip bound-in at the limitation page; light wear; portfolio is a bit tight, with a little crinkling of a few of the plate edges at margins; all in very good condition.
