Lincoln County, New Mexico: Not Published, 1876. F Two billheads, one for W.P. Seymour Jobber and Retail Dealer in dry goods and groceries, clothing, boots, shoes, hats, and stockmen's supplies, located in Seven Rivers, New Mexico and dated Dec.1888 - May of 1889, made out to Mr. J. M. Robb and noted on back as paid by Mrs. Robb and signed paid by W.P. Seymour; an extensive list, over 35 line items noted, with prices for a variety of goods: for corn, muslin, ginger, oranges, an album, stick candy, over shoes, a doll, matches, hankies, rubbers, barrel, jelly, crackers, a sifter, shoes, sardines, sugar, table cloth, collars, cologne, hair ring and ribbon, knife, pencils, harness, horse shoes and nails, more; with amounts, prices; on Seymour printed letterhead, approx. 8 1/4" x 13" size, old fold lines, little edge-wear, very good condition; (and) a similar billhead, this one printed and titled as Bought of R. H. Pierce Seven Rivers, New Mex. Dealer in General Merchandise Ranch Supplies a Specialty, the billhead noting also Pierce & Dow Dealers in Cattle and Fine Stock; not dated as to final year and 188(?) as imprint, for purchases made Sept - Oct. -Nov.; items including socks, candy, pair boots, coffee, bacon, chambray, calico, hose, tea, tobacco, rope, horse rasp, nails, canned foods, pickles, apples, day book, benzoin, poplin, more; no name, seemingly a continuation from another page as this is marked '2'; with notation of prices, dates, amounts, also payments to individuals; approx. 8 1/2" x 13 3/4" size, old fold lines, edge-wear, in very good condition; concerning Seven Rivers: "... Settled in the mid-1860s, the town flourished as a trading post and refuge for participants in the Lincoln County war. The community has since declined until only the cemetery was left..."
