C. 1920 Cabinet Card Photograph of the Interior of a Diner, the Patrons and Staff Having Neutral, Noncommital or Troubled Expressions
(Photography - United States - 20th Century)

United States: Not Published, 1920. F Very sharply taken and detailed interior black and white photo, a view of a small diner or café circa 1920; two male patrons, one busily eating at the end of the row of stools, another facing the viewer; 2 women and a man behind counter are the staff - remarkable for the lack of expression (or in the case of patron looking out, belligerence) on their features as they look at the camera; approx. 5" x 7" size, on cardstock mount approx. 7 1/2" x 9 1/4"; no photographer or studio identification; nor is place identified; nicely hand-printed signage on the walls, price list, phone booth at back with Uneeda biscuit advert; a very spotless-looking and clean eatery, having stamped-pattern walls, tiled floors, wooden booths, with soda-fountain stool & counter set-up; some edgewear to cardmount, rippling, one corner of mount chipped away; photo in very good condition and affectingly depressing. Good Paperback (Item ID: 22188)
