1872 Manuscript List of Chemical Treatments for Hyperalbuminemia with Integral Letter from the Prescribing Physician

F One sheet of good light chain-laid notepaper, folded to create 4 panels; on the front is a list of 18 substances, - phosphoric acid, terebinth, arsenicium, uranium, others; 15 with lines extending from this list which are indicated as giving "the greatest decrease of Albumen"; within, written on another panel is a letter dated June 4 (18)72 signed by a Wm. Munsell(?) and addressed 'Dear Banks' who has evidently inquired about cures - Munsell gives the attached list "which I have used in the treatment of your case..." presumably, a condition of hyperalbuminemia; the remaining substances he had not used are "believe(d) under more favorable circumstances (by change etc.) that these remedies would exert a happy influence...German bitter waters have been of great service..."; approx. 8 1/2" x 11" overall, opened size; some edgewear and old fold lines, little bit of discoloration; handwriting mostly legible, a few letters more 'hurried' than others; in good condition; interesting manuscript medical ephemera, using various chemicals as treatment for a specific condition.
