Raoul-Rochette (1789-1854) antiquary and historian; the Swiss had been under a short but harsh governance under Napoleon's rule, which they bitterly opposed until under his Act of Mediation, an autonomy of sorts was once again established in Switzerland; short closed edge-tear to map; bound in the orginal polished marbled-paper covered boards, flat leather spine, text block edges marbled; spine ends chipped away (revealing an interesting binder's waste of blue gingham checked cloth- perhaps from an early rebacking), drying and spliting to spine leather edges, binding still solidly sewn; generally text pages fresh and in very good condition; good overall.
