1995 "Emotional Blocks" Artwork Signed By Tom Blackwell: A Set of Changeable Wooden Blocks in Custom Box with Screenprinted Depictions of Various Emotional States

1995. Signed Tom Blackwell in black felt-tip pen on the base of the foam-cloth lined & gray-painted plywood box, with handwritten copyright 'c' and title; limited edition numbered 16 of 200; the box approx. 8" square, about 4" deep; with blocks cut to fit; blocks have an affixed multi-colored screenprinted design on each of the block faces; making 6 different designs, each with a four-letter 'emotion' depicted and identified with capital letters and a 'face' of the emotion: Love, Pain, Fear, Glee, Hate, Hope; some of the 'faces' - mostly human as well as one animal - more abstract than others, all colorful and interesting & sometimes startling in their depictions; in addition, one of the blocks signed "Tom Blackwell" in white ink; light wear, gray paint a bit rubbed on sides of box; blocks bright, in very good condition and an unusual three-dimensional piece by this American artist, more usually known for photo-realist depictions, these more apparently in his metaphysical style; Chicago-born in 1938, Thomas Leo 'Tom' Blackwell. Very Good (Item ID: 20901)
