F 23 pages, unopened; in the author's Preface Moore explains his reasoning and the background for this 'revision' of his tale; George Moore (1852-1933) Irish writer, was responsible for introducing realism into wrting in England, he had learned of this during his Paris years with Zola-Moore's own experience of racing touts and shabby lodgings introduced the public to a wider world than the fashionable novel of the day, Moore also one of the great memoirists & worked at setting up the Abbey Theatre in Dublin.
