Gibbs, author, who is metioned several times in the index and appendix section, writing on Goldsmith & Newbery, Johnson & Newbery, thanking Welsh for this copy (?) of the Newbery book, stating with praise "...a remarkeble deal tht is new upon your subject. I predict that it will be a success first as a readable book, and next as a permanently desirable, and indeed indispensable one in all future collections of books for study and reference upon the subjects of Johnson, Goldsmith, Boswell and their contemporaries..."; black and white illustrations of important places in Newbery lives, and a facscimile letter; laid-in is 5-page article from October 17, 1925 Publisher's Weekly "John Newbery Printer for Children" by Wilbur Macey Stone; old notation on front endpaper states that "Rebound May 1966 in (light blue with floral design) buckram covers, designed and reproduced from actual 'Dutch paper' as used by J.
