Vol. I with a folding Map of New Netherland as frontispiece (tear at attachment; no loss); a folding plate with the facsimile signatures of the three first Directors General, Dutch clergymen and other principal men connected with the affairs of New Netherland; also a folding Map of Rensselaers Wyck Anno 1630. Vol II frontispiece with a tissue-guarded engraved portrait of P. Stuyvesant by Gimbrede after an original by Vandyke; another page of facsimile signatures; and a folding map showing Nova Belgica sive Nieuw Nederlandt, centered on the Hudson River & with a small vignette-view of Nieuw Amsterdam opt Eylant Manhattans at bottom margin; another engraved portrait, of Jeremias Van Rennslaer, is in the text. Contents regarding New York's Dutch colonial history, compiled by Edmund Bailey O'Callaghan (1797 - 1880) "...the greatest editor of state papers this commonwealth has ever known, having given twenty-two years of his life, 1848-1870, to that work...Indeed, for some material that was destroyed in the (NY) Capitol fire of 1911, we are dependent solely on the printed volumes...
