Brush M.D., U.S. Navy; in service as a surgeon & medical inspector, from 1861-1894 and his small book-number ticket on the front endpaper; he was often in service on the South American Pacific Coast. The back endpaper with a tipped-on Spanish text review of the book from a Lima Peru newspaper, dated 1866. Volume approx. 5 3/4" x 7 3/4" size; bound in the original brick red cloth; title stamped in gilt as are spine titles. Some light edge, tips wear to the binding, back cover corner darkened some; in very good condition.
