Containing a couple of illustrated document facsimiles: a Miami Land-Warrant and a page showing account certificates. Chapter information regarding the early settlement of the old Northwest lands, the Miami Native American tribe, various schemes and financial undertakings which secured the territory as it then became; the author makes use of source documents, quoted verbatim in the text and the extensive appendices. Title page with the small somewhat faint owner name-stamp of collector George R. Brush M.D., U.S. Navy; in service as a surgeon & medical inspector, from 1861-1894. Approx. 5 1/2" x 8" size; original brown textured cloth boards, decoratively titled in gilt on cover and spine. A little edge, tips wear to the binding; in very good condition.
