xxxii + 496 pages, with a few woodcut initial letters and tailpieces. The medical work of Giorgio Baglivi (1668 - 1707) an Armenio-Italian physician and scientist. This copy does not have the author's portrait; Pages 231-232 with woodcut figures; Dissertatio VI. De Anatome, Morfu, & essectibus Tarantulae section with map of coastal Italy, Golfo Di Venetia, Golfo di Taranto along with tarantula spiders. The Baglivi text followed by Joannis Dominic Santorini section at back, "I. De Structura & motu fibrae. II De Nutritione animali. III. De Haemorrhoidibus. V. De Catameniis." (numbered 'V.' on the half-title page, correctly as 'IV.' within the text.) The Santorini section also with two illustrations and tipped-in at page 462 is a piece of good quality writing paper, probably contemporary and with a partial watermark, with a short handwritten quote in Latin; this sheet with old fold lines as if from a note and with one quarter cut away. Title page with previous owner stamp of collector Dr. Brush, U.S. Navy surgeon and medical inspector 1861-1894 and with his small book number-ticket on front endpaper. Approx. 7" x 8 3/4" size; bound in textured green cloth covered boards, contrasting green leather corners and spine, gilt spine titles, gilt rules & ornamentation, (faintly) marbled edges & marbled endpapers. Some edge, tips wear & rubbing to the binding, some dryness along the spine edges. Title page with old pen trials and a spot-discoloration at top margin, short 'v'-shape of paper cut away at lower margin edge; couple of small outer-margin wormholes at last two page edges, no loss; plates & balance of text generally clean and in good condition.
