The author, Jose Felix Manuel Dagnino Dassori (1834-1901) was a prominent Italian-born Venezuelan writer, educator and medical doctor, "...His studies on Yellow Fever were the first to be carried out in Venezuela, establishing him as an internationally renowned clinician…the founder of the Maracaibo Hospitals Medical-Surgical Clinic Journal, where many of his scientific works and his lessons on medical clinic were published. He held several medical, philosophical and Latin chairs at the National College and at the University of Zulia...." (Agustín Arteaga in The Zuliano Rajao) Previous owner name on the cover, dated Curacao W.I. 8 February 1884 and his name-stamp on the title page of George R. Brush M.D. U.S. Navy; a surgeon & medical inspector, from 1861-1894 (his death), whose naval duties took him to many locations around the world, including South American and Caribbean stations. Approx. 6 1/4" x 9"size; bound in the original purplish-pink printed paper wraps. Soiling and chipping to the bottom of the spine paper of the cover; contents clean and in very good condition.
