1828 Signed William Paulding Mayor of the City of New York

Amermans Clerk 3 Markets, made from the Treasurer of the City of New-York, at the Mechanics' Bank. Signed by Wm (illiam) Paulding (1770-1854); from 1824 to 1826, mayor of New York City, also a member of the U.S. Congress and a brigadier general of the militia of the state of New York, serving in the War of 1812. Counter-signed by the city clerk and the city comptroller and by Amerman on the back. Approx. 3 1/2" x 6 1/2" size; with a little job-printing ornamentation. Light wear, darkening; with the old-style 'x' cancellation-cut, unobtrusive. In very good condition, interesting City of New York political history ephemera. Item #26433
