Foremost among them, he believed, was his contribution to revision of the Bible. He termed it ‘the greatest spiritual movement that has taken place since the Reformation'...Despite his scholarly work and other commitments in convocation and in the House of Lords, Ellicott did not neglect his diocese...a tall man with a good sense of humour.
