Framed Certificate of Matrimony for David Hawkins of the Town of Brookhaven and Larura C. Lane of the Town of Islip New York 14th November 1849
Long Island New York. Certificate framed and glazed in an old wood surround; with a nice engraved vignette of a gerneric wedding ceremony; The couple were joined in marriage by Minster of the Gospel Thomas G. Osborn; blanks filled in form all in the same very legible hadn in blue ink; approx.10" x 12" overall framed size, document smaller; interestingly, the spaces for the witnesses are left blank; some wear and chipping to frame; some spotting and aging to document; in good condition and interesting ephemera for nineteenth-century Long Island genealogy history for Hawkins-Lane families and also of sociological interest for the marriage ceremony and its depiction in art.
