F. 191 pages + 8 pages of publisher's announcements at back; the story by Park Benjamin (1849-1922) son of the caustic editor and reporter of the same name, is interesting for its criticism of the U.S. Navy's lack of paying attention to innovation in naval design importance, when a 'fourth-rate' armored (Spanish) nation attacks New York City and the U.S. Navy is forced to fight wth outdated equipment; Benjamin was an Annapolis graduate, wrote extensively on scientific subjects; small book, approximately 4 1/2" x 6 1/2" in size; title page and copyright page dates match; previous owner bookplate of Frederick W. French on front endpaper; yellow cloth binding, black cover and spine titles; some edge, tips wear, soiling & foxing, to binding; some tanning to leaves; good condition. Item #12345
