Ordonnance Du Roi, Qui Defend Le Port D'armes & Les Epaulettes, a Tous Domestiques, & Nommemement a Ceux Appeles Chasseurs, Heiduques, & Aux Negres. Du 13 Juin 1779 De Par Le Roi.

Paris: L'Imprimerie Royale, 1779. 3 pages; wherein this ordinance declares that there is provision for punishment for anyone, specifically servants and negroes, to carry weapons, ie. swords, other implements; coming at a time in which Louis XVI (1754-93) at which the king was struggling with just how much freedom he could grant his subjects and not offend the ruling classes; there is in this declaration perhaps a foreshadowing and indication of fear of the violence to come in the French Revolution; woodcut headpiece ornament, dated 1778; disbound from a larger volulme, old stab-holes in left margin; old rub-hole in the (printed) signature of Jean-Charles-Pierre Lenoir, Vicomte de Paris at end; good condition overall and interesting.
