Pen & ink; the turtle has been drawn, deftly trimmed and fit into an appropriate pond 'landscape,' by pasting it in position. The card with various pencil & ink comments and numbering, measurements for publication and with more comments on the reverse, including that the artist should be "...sure that the "scales" of the turtle back run in the right direction..." The published story eliminates the background. Henry Pruett Share (1853 - 1905) American illustrator, etcher & engraver was also the art editor at the New York World (1999 WWW in American Art) Approx. 3 3/8" x 7 1/4" overall size; drawn on stiff cardstock. Some soiling & wear; very nicely drawn and in very good condition.
