A few ephemeral items regarding Edward H. Smith of Smithtown, LI, NY. Including: A handwritten note dated New York Dec 2 1851 addressing Geo. W. Riggs Esq., and presenting E.H. Smith, who was then representing the first Congressional District of the State of NY in the house of representatives, signed by Harry Reeve(?); also a 1883 4 ½-page series of handwritten notes, a speech "To Mr. & Mrs. E.H. Smith upon their Fiftieth Anniversary Nov. 20th 1833 to Nov. 20th 1883 by P. H. B." (signed at the last page Prescott Hale Butler); and a finely calligraphic calling card written for "Mrs. Ed. Henry Smith - Smithtown, L.I. - Willards" on gloss white cardstock, approx. 2" x 3 1/8" size; light wear, a little darkened around the edges; in very good condition.
