Uncle Charlie's Souvenir Picture Book

Brooklyn, New York: Charles Noel Douglas, 1915. First Edition. Soft Cover. Good. Item #028614

(20) pages; illustrated throughout in black and white with photos of Uncle Charlie in his invalid bed, in the care of his various nurses. Also with images of his Brooklyn residence, interior and exterior views; and photos of Uncle Charlie at various stages of his life and of his forebears. At back is one page of text, explaining that he'd had "...hundreds of requests for photographs..." from his well-wishers over the years and this little book is the result: "...I know you will be glad to note how well I look for a man who has not had a night of natural sleep in five years and seldom knows what it is to be free from pain..." He describes the color scheme and furnishings of his home, the absolute necessity of owning the Encyclopedia Britannica if one wishes to write; and finishes with a sales pitch, selling photo-prints of the images in the booklet. Approx. 7 3/8" x 9 1/8" size; oblong format; printed linen-finish paper covers. Some edge, tips wear and soiling to the binding; in good condition.
