The Long Island Railroad had eventually consolidated three separate lines which ran into Hempstead, "...the old Central Railroad, owned by A.T. The engineer's report notes that an urban planning adjustment was needed, as "...this community is a trading center for the densely populated area forming the middle section of the western part of Nassau County, which, according to the last Federal census, is the fastest growing county in the country. Seventy-seven trains arrive and depart daily from the Hempstead station at the present time..." The text also has budgetary and cost details, needed for the improvements & offers conclusions to the report. With several black and white photo-illustrations at the front, including aerial photographs by Fairchild Aerial Surveys, Inc.; the lithographs were accomplished by the Polygraphic Company of America. Approx. 8 1/2" x 11" size, bound in plain light gray paper with printed titles, spine stapled with matching green cloth.
