Five Valentine cards, each with this publisher's embossed name of Meek. Two of these cards have chromolithographic pieces affixed to the paper lace backgrounds: 'My love in you,' with 'Truth' at center. This card with the sentiment within, "Love me as I love you dear!/Then will earth be bright;/And the skies above us beam,/Fair with rosy Light" printed in blue with decorative floral border. 'Forget me not' card with the inside sentiment printed in red and blue on a small separate sheet, tipped-on: "My Idol./Day thought, and night dream,/Thou art to me;/All my life's pathways/Lead me to thee." Approx. 3" x 4 1/2" size overall, light loss to lace; one chromo piece at base of 'Truth' card gone; pinhole at top; in good to very good condition. (with) 3 larger cards, each with the embossed central floral decoration hand-painted. One of these with a fine ink-penned sentiment framing the central panel, "ph That Love's Art/Would make/Thy heart to Love me." None of these larger cards bear printed sentiments within. Not dated and circa 1860s UK. Larger cards approx. 4 5/8" x 7 1/4" size; with some light wear, soiling, darkening; in very good condition.
