Washington, DC: U.S. Coast Survey, 1845. Map. Not Bound. Very Good. Item #027509

Coast Survey chart, notable for its fine detail and including surrounding views of the coastline. Guthorn, 1984 United States Coastal Charts 1783-1861 p. 72 (and illustrated) notes that this is a "...smaller scale version of the chart published in 1844 and 1845 in six sheets...This much more usable single sheet was priced at 75 cents, one of the early charts published under Bache's name. The smaller scale chart, with soundings at somewhat greater intervals, is more legible, and less confusing. Longitude is still east or west of New York's City Hall. There are now two shore profiles of the Navesink highlands, views of the Light from two directions, and linear scales now include nautical miles as well as yards and statute miles. It is one of the earlier Coast Survey charts on the scale of 1:80,000." Approx. 24 1/4" x 35 3/8" size, to the neat line;.31" x 38 3/4" overall sheet size; generous margins; printed on heavy paper stock. Some edge, tips wear and surface crinkling; in very good condition overall. NOTE: Shipped rolled for safety.

Price: $150.00
