Monson that the Prussic Acid may be obtained from him and that it is prepared at the request of Silliman. Authored by François Magendie (1783 - 1855) the sometimes controversial French experimental physiologist, translated by fellow surgeon James Gates Percival (1795 - 1856) American doctor, poet and geologist. Approx. 4 5/8" x 7 1/4" size; bound in later 19th century marbled-paper covered boards, black leather corners & spine, simple gilt rules, spine titles gilt, patterned-paper endpapers. Some edge, tips wear to the binding, top cover on by the cords, sewing still firm; contents with some darkening & spotting; short closed edge-tear to the title page; in good condition.
