Both photographs taken in the same room-setting, slight differences of position and the following individuals are identified below the images: John Crepps Wickliffe Beckham (1869-1940) Speaker of the House, Lieutenant Governor, Governor & U.S. Senator; Senator Ferguson; Henry Nare; M.C. Bennett, enrolling Clerk, KY Senate & Virginia & Adah Bennett; Senator Nelson of Henderson; Margret Ingles, Paris Kentucky; Senator J.M. Thomas, Paris Kentucky; Mr. Smith, member from Louisville; Sen. McConnell; Miss Sublett; and Senator Cranshaw of Christian County. One of the images identifies the location as "Miss Luti Nare's our boarding House Winter 1898…" The backs of both mount cards with the studio stamp-imprint of 'E.C. Wolff, Fotographer, Frankfort, Ky.' Our research indicates that "This Frankfort photography studio, operated successively by E. Carl Wolff, Harry A. Gretter, and Forrest Cusick with his wife Anna and her brothers, documented families, businesses, neighborhoods, industry, and state government in the capital..." (Kentucky Historical Society) Photographs approx. 4 3/4" x 8 1/4" size; both on cardstock mounts, 8" x 10." Some edge-chipping, soiling & dustiness; one mount with closed crack; one image faded, the other clearer; in good condition.
