15 pages; black and white illustrated, giving exterior and interior views; one of the hotel claims to fame is as being one of the residences of the poet Longfellow; no date, circa 1900 (telephone number is "21"); 5" x 8" oblong format; text in French and English, side-by-side, with the history of the hotel through the ages; printed at the presses of M. Herreboudt, Bruges; laid in is a postcard of the working kitchen of the Hotel, displaying implements, worktables and a nicely-printed one-sided broadside advertisement sheet for the establishment and a light wear to paper wrap covers; very good condition.

Small pamphlet, consisting of a light blue 'linen' finish paper cover, with the title "Marine Mosaic?" and with no further authorship or date or printer indicated; with 3 interior 'panels' with illustrations of: Mullioned Window, Memorial Window (Frederick Schroeder) and a 4-light group of Yacht Windows; the front inner panel of the cover describes "Marine Mosaic is the artistic adaptation of shells, stones and glass, strongly cemented to form effects, beautiful in color and unusual in design...originated in the studio at Harbor Villa, Shelter Island, N.Y...." and describing some of its decorative uses; approx. 3 1/4" x 8 3/8" size; with soiling, old stains on the covers and contents and wear along old fold lines, splitting; the illustrations of the work clear and good, and evidence of the skill of the creator & inventor of the technique, Shelter Island artist Walter Cole Brigham (1870-1941) painter and craftsperson, studied with William Merritt Chase, Siddons Mowbray and others, member of the Art Students League, whose work in mosaic may still be seen at some of the churches on the Island as well as at the Brooklyn Museum (1999 WWW in American Art); we speculate that this 'flyer' may have been a self-published promotional tool created by him to publicize his work; in good condition overall and an interesting piece of Long Island arts & crafts history ephemera.

Double-sided document, framed and glazed as such; with printed text filled in manuscript; detailing a sale of land from Nathan H. Whiting to David Emes; regarding "...one certain Lott of Land - Lying in the township of Whitingham County of Windham State of Vermont. being Number 8 in Whitings Grants so called."; the document witnessed on the 9th of July 1794, witnessed by Ruth Gay, Ruth Butter, Nathan H. Whiting and with the Justice of the Peace signature at bottom right of Noah Webster Sr., father of the famous American lexicographer; Noah Webster (1722-1813) served in the French and Indian War and a captain on the 'alarm list' for men over forty-five, in the American Revolution; with the original paper-covered wax seal present; back of document with the note of Jabez Foster the Town Clerk for Whitingham, recording the exchange in the town; Whitingham is perhaps most famously noted as the birthplace of Brigham Young, the Mormon prophet and founder of Salt Lake City, Utah; mounted in a double-sided gilt frame, old mattes and glass; visible surface 7 1/2" x 12 1/2"; frame makes it about 12 1/4" x 17 1/4"; some wear and chipping to decorative edge of framing, old fold lines to document, some with light splitting visible, no loss to text or sense of the document; some bleed-through of the ink from the front; an interesting 18th century American deed.

Collection includes 50 individual items, with some of these running to multiple pages; 1798 - 2 documents; 1800-1810 being 5 pieces; 1811-1820 having 13 items; 1821-1830 with 19 cases; 1838 with 1 and 1843 with 1 case; the Justices involved include Abraham Ditmars, William Mott, Oliver Denton, Richard Bedell, Cary Dunn Jr., William Furman, Amory Remson, James Hendrickson, Luke Covert and others; areas mentioned include Oyster Bay, Hempstead, North Hempstead, Jamaica, all within the old Queens County jurisdiction; for offenses including chicken- stealing, assault and battery on a woman, tenancy eviction, insolvency and debtors arrangements, tavern licensing, juror lists, various pleas and statements, dockets on cases; document sizes and paper quality varies, most written in very legible hands on good quality paper, several with the original wax seals still extant; about 1/2 dozen of the documents are partially printed and have the blindstamp of the State of NY and completed by hand; some wear, splitting along old fold lines; in generally good to very good condition and an interesting group of law and crime related documents from Long Island in the earliest part of the 19th century, with a variety of legal import.
