A beautifully engraved & printed invitation to this landmark event for NYC; large format, approx. 6 1/2" x 9" size, printed one side, on cardstock; illustrated with the lovely depiction of the completed bridge, with boats on the river below, both city shorelines visible, and heraldic shield decorations; invitation written out to William H. Folk, who was a Union Civil War veteran of the 173rd Regiment NY and a noted veteran police detective and captain of the Twelfth Precinct; in attendance were the mayors of New York Franklin Edison and Brooklyn's Seth Low, and Washington Roebling for the engineers, along with the various committee members named on this invitation; light wear, little soil to cardstock, faint old stain, darkened a bit; in very good condition overall and great piece of New York City & Brooklyn ephemera from the 19th century, commemorating a great event. 1883 The Trustees of the New York and Brooklyn Bridge Request the Honor of the Presence of William H.
