Document states: "Queens county Common Pleas Whitehead Cornwell vs. Isaac Hendrickson Plea And the said Whitehead by Alexander Hamilton his Attorney comes and defends the force and injury when (?) and Says that he is not guilt of the said trespass as the said Isaac above complains against him and of this he puts himself upon the Country and the said Isaac likewise Hamilton for Def't Queens County for Whitehead Cornwell puts him in his place Alexnder Hamilton his Attorney at the suit of Isaac Hendrickson in the plea aforesaid" (on back) "Queens County Com. Pleas Whitehead Cornwell vs Isaac Hendrickson Plea Hamilton Atty." (and in another hand) "with leave by consent to give the special matter in evidence."; 6 3/4" x 8" approx. size; no date but circa 1802; Alexander Hamilton (1755 or 1757-1804) American statesman; light browning along old fold lines; very good condition. Interesting documentation of an Alexander Hamilton case. Comparison of signatures from other documents does not conclusively indicate that this is his writing hand, nevertheless this piece is certainly worthy of further research; we note a small reference in the Aaron Burr papers to a Whitehead Cornwell and the Library of Congress Hamilton papers show the case as part of his legal history; perhaps there is a connection here between these two men and to Hamilton and his subsequent death in the duel that ended his life.

Collection of 37 wooden blocks; each block with a color picture, incised into the wood and with romaji, Japanese symbols on front, and the breakdown of these symbols graphically displayed on the back of the block: hotaru (lightning bug); ringo (apple); saru (monkey); yotto (sailboat); rubi (ring, portrayed in jewelry box); koma (a spinning top); Huzi (Mt. Fuji) and so on; the color side of the block with light clear protective lacquer or glaze; about 4 cm square, approx. 7 mil in thickness; plain, unidentified close-grained wood; no date or maker marks, no box or identifiers; circa 1950s or so; some edgewear and rubbing, one corner chipped; a bit of fading to colors; overall, very good condition and a very charming set of children's alphabet-learning blocks from Japan.

Coffin; Our Champion at Riems: Glenn H. Curtiss and His Training Flights at Mineola and including a shot of Curtiss Flying over the Hempstead Plains and a portrait, along with photos of his engines; The Flights Above the English Channel by D.C. Drawing signed W.H. Gaylor Architect and additionally dated dated 12/(18)78 showing the basement, first & second story interior dimensions and layout of this building; from the back of the sheet there are penciled drawings and notations of the location at High St & Bridge St. (Brooklyn, New York) and a note stating "filed June 1881"showing that this plan was evidently put forward as plans just as W. H. Gaylor became Commissioner of Buildings, appointed by Mayor Seth Low in 1881. Gaylor was an architect and builder by profession; building has a somewhat odd footprint, being slightly angling in on one side; interesting for showing bath tubs and location of kitchen rooms in basement, stairways, nicely hand-colored and shaded, very precisely inked and with all dimensions; approx. 17" x 31" size; some edge, tips wear and soiling, some splitting along old fold lines; in good condition and interesting Brooklyn New York architectural history.
