The homestead of the late Dennis Murphy, with a map of the property, approximately 8 acres and showing the location of a house and barn - "...On the premises is an excellent neat New House, handsomely painted and well finished, together with other out buildings adequate for the size of the farm, all in good order..."; bounded on the south by a lane leading to Wm. J. Willis' Residence, on the east by the land of Willis (and also most probably north side as well - here, not designated) and on the west by the "Highway Leading from Glen Cove to Hempstead"; this is an area outside of Roslyn proper and may be part of what is now Greenvale; printed by the Long island Farmer Print, with their notice at bottom, dated Dec. 2nd 1885 - who are still in business today as the Long Island Press; a large and boldly-printed broadside announcement poster - approx. 19 3/4" x 28"; printed with several typefaces typical of the time; old fold lines; some discoloration markings at center lines, small crumb of paper loss at old fold; bit of edgewear; in very good condition and an interesting ephemeral survival of late 19th century Long Island real estate development history, from an area which rapidly became one of the most populous & wealthiest in the state and the U.S., especially after the formation of Nassau county in 1899.
