Materials consisting of a finely leather-bound volume of handwritten information concerning these families, research notes & correspondence, all in French: volume with 32 pages, handwritten, with various branches of the family noted and traced back to before the time of Henry III and the Crusades with descendants, places of residence, occupations and spouses, children when known; most of the book taken up with research done prior to 1875 and with the last 4 pages noting the "Branche Allemande-Russe" and taking that research up to c. 1900, ending with Vasil le Juge Docteur-et-Lettres; at several places in the later text, there are various stamps and signed notations from the Ministere de la Justice, Tribunal Civile and the British Consulate in Paris which attest to the information within; illustrated with 4 small coats-of-arms of the family, executed in colors and gold, each about 1 1/2" x 2 1/2" size; the book bound in dark green leather, gilt cover titles and panel surround; gilt spine titles and simple rules; inner gilt roll-tooling, marbled endpapers, approx. 8 1/2" x 12 1/2", with light wear and rubbing to the tips of the boards & edges, and contained in a matching green cardstock box lined with marbled paper (box with much wear and rubbing, split, still serviceable and has protected the contents well); (with) 7 letters, dated 1899-1903 from the Archives de la Noblesse, Docteur Le Juge de Segrais and one other correspondent regarding genealogical research and findings related to the family, a couple of the letters with original mailing envelope (stamps excised); (with) c. 40 pages of notes, most on 6 1/2" x 8 1/2" plain notepaper, a few larger, with notations and 'extrait'; (with) 5 additional mimeographed typed genealogy information sheets and ½ sheets having the 'Actes de Notariete Heraldique' stamp with signature and administrative numbering; lastly is a closely-ink-written 1946 note in German from Oskar Rohde in Luneburg writing with more information; the loose notes and letters with some wear and aging, in very good condition; a good archive of material concerning this family and its genealogy.

A very good photograph of this street scene, pedestrians visible below, appears to have been taken from the third or fourth story of another building; no date and circa 1880, no photographer or actual location given; 7 5/8" x 11 3/8" image size approximate, mount card adds about 2 1/2" border; on original gilt-edged buff-white cardstock mount; a little wear soiling to the mount card, image with a few blemishes within the plate; still very good condition and evocative of the time..

359 pages; tissue-guarded color woodcut frontispiece and black and white illustrations throughout the text by Simeon; chapter initials colored in red; French language text throughout; Anatole France (Pseud. of Jacques-Anatole-Francois Thibault) 1844-1924, novelist, critic, and man of letters, born in Paris, the only son of a book-dealer...The Dreyfus case aroused his strong sympathies and in later years he developed socialist leanings, at times taking part in public meetings. His last years were spent in retirement in his Touraine property, La Bechellerie. He was awarded the Nobel Prize for Literature in 1921. (Oxford French); limited edition, No. 565 of a 1000 copies, this being on Rives paper; previous owner bookplate at front of G. Semon; original illustrated paper wraps; a little worn and soiled, spine paper chipped a bit; contents in very good condition, nicely printed and illustrated.
