From the collection of Robert S. Greene (1922 - 2013) writer, New Orleans jazz musician, documentarian, historian and long an enthusiastic visitor to Japan while on his musical tours. With additional comments by him at chapter headings when visiting these locations, with a short reminiscence - usually concerning his uncle Paul C. Blum (1898 - 1981) a noted collector of books and manuscript materials on early Japan and that country's early interactions with the West who endowed the Collection at the Yokohama Archives of History Library with 7,000 items.
