A small handwritten letter; dated Dec 9 1888; the author giving his opinion on benefits and charity work, addressed to "Palma" (perhaps the performance violinist of that name, Palma Von Paszthory) and evidently of some intimacy, as there is a request at the end to send a reply to the St. James Hotel where the Winter will be staying "...for a few days..."; William Winter (1836-1917) American dramatic critic, author, born in Gloucester Mass., graduate of Harvard Law School; written on 4 sides of a paper 6 1/2 " x 5" approx., in a rather peculiar lettering-style, words and letters lining up almost vertically; old fold-lines; in very good condition.
