East Hampton Long Island NY: School District No. I, 1882. Early mimeograph announcement/programme guides for East Hampton school "Entertainments"; our research indicates that Thomas Edison patented the mimeograph process in 1876, these programs are dated 1880 & 1882, giving an indication of how the mimeo system had taken hold and was in common usage very quickly; a group of four; two of the same, two pages (folded) and two other programs, one rather charmingly bound with a light blue ribbon-tie at top; these show-guides are giving elaborate detail for the festivities, the Salutory, songs, coloquy, Quintettes, essays, more: "Song: My Dollie-Miss Fannie Hedges...Essay-Honesty- Miss Ada Hedges...Quartette Little Mabel: Maynie Stokes Misses Mamie Tillinghast Lillle Worthington Minnie Havens..."and more of the same; all given with the performers' names; some attempt at decoration has been made, with a border drawn round the edges; a few names drawn-over, to darken the mimeo's print; some fading, one program with some edge-chipping, loss of a few letters, all fairly readable and in good condition. Good (Item ID: 13142)
