Album of 48 albumen-process cartes-de-visite + one small portrait tintype, often identified beneath the photograph in pencil, also laid-in is a small obituary clipping from a newspaper and a list of names and dates of death for some of the family members, possibly done by a later family genealogical researcher and a "Passion Flower" prayer card; the more prominent names being Milne, Borthwick, Tait or Taite, Tissot, Payne, Wilson; also, some of the local Edinburgh luminaries are depicted: Dr. Thompson at Peebles, Dr. Bedd, Minister at Edinburgh; one gentleman, with several different cdv representations, is identified as a Robert Wilson "...painted water colours of John Knox's House & George Street"; one gentleman in tartans; various photography studios' imprints on cards: Jas. Howe Jun., E. Watson, W.K. Munro, A. Asher, more; sometimes the mounts with old discolorations, edgewear and chipping; no loss or damage to photographs; circa 1870s and later; album block detached from covers, coming undone; photographs in generally good condition, reasonably clear & with discernible detail.
